When the road turns to polished ice or packed snow, these Glacier tire chains hold their own. Each cross chain has V-bar-style twist links studded to dig deep into frozen surfaces, breaking through glaze and giving your tires a solid grip. The ladder pattern adds steady forward traction, so even steep, slick climbs or rough backcountry trails feel manageable. Drivers using them in deep snow, ice, and mud say they cut in “like a boss,” keeping control where other setups slip.
The ladder layout on these chains gives a firm push with every rotation. Instead of sliding or fishtailing, your tires can dig in and keep steady momentum. That design makes a big difference when you’re plowing a hillside driveway, towing a trailer out of drifts, or pulling a load across icy gravel. Reviews mention tackling 24" snowfalls, frozen driveways, and mountain roads without losing traction, proving that the straightforward ladder pattern just works.
Fumbling with loose chains in freezing wind isn’t fun. These come with integrated side cams that make tensioning simple—just twist the cams with the included tool until the chains pull snug around the tire. The cams stay put while you drive, keeping the fit secure. Add optional rubber adjusters if you want extra tension, especially for longer runs. This straightforward setup means less time kneeling in slush and more time getting where you need to go.

Each link measures 5.6 mm (0.220") thick and is made of low-carbon steel for dependable strength. That material takes the beating of packed snow, ice, and mud without bending or snapping. The solid welds and sturdy crossbars hold up to repeated winter use, from clearing steep icy driveways to hauling heavy loads through deep snow. When you count on your chains to get you out of trouble, these have the toughness to keep up season after season.
Sold as a pair and backed by a 90-day warranty, these Glacier V-Bar chains fit tire sizes from 15" to 20". Keep them in the truck as your go-to backup for chain-law zones, mountain travel, and frozen job sites. When winter shuts down the road, these chains give you the traction to keep moving.

Just put them on my truck. OMG! Talk about getting out of a sticky situation. We have a 27' camper and couldn't get it thru the yard. I put the glacier chains on and the truck moved with ease. I would recommend these chain and this company ETrailer. I've ordered several times with confidence. Thank you Etrailer!
Fast delivery, quick to install, have put a couple miles on them will use them plowing several steep icy driveways.
These guys provide the best customer service in any industry! I’ve bought (3) full sets of tire chains and couldn’t be more pleased.
Great service and shipping. Thanks guys

Love them...couldnt live in Montana and explore the mountains without them.
I have to rate these 5 star so far. They came in good shape, As expected. I've used chains a good bit before and wanted a set for my pickup. I am going to test fit them in the driveway when i get a chance. I would recommend these to anybody looking for a good honest set of tire chains. I would advise getting the ones with the V bars like these have. They don't hurt anything and really help in ice! if your cross-members are coming off the side chains, either use a hammer and anvil and curl the hooks over or get a chain tool and just pinch each hook over. Simple fix. These chains appear solid to my well-trained chain eyes. I know where to go for another set.
They look and feel heavy duty. I haven't used them yet but I did install them to check for fit. Installation is a bit trickier than what's shown in the video. I found it easier to lay them behind the rear tire and back up over them for a short distance. I really like the cam tensioners you just have to twist as many as it takes to gain the correct tension over the tire.
This is my first set of chains that I have ever bought. I have a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 TRD with BFG All-Terrain 275/70R16 tires. I put them on today 7/26/13 and I must say I am a very impressed. The V-Bar chain is outstanding for off-road traction. I only tried them out on the rear wheels in about 12" of mud but I was able to get through without 4WD. I would highly recommend them if you are a hunter or if you do some serious off-roading.
Purchase of tire chains for my Silverado was very easy, shipped free and very timely. Installation was a snap just like the directions stated. Purchased for back woods hunting in PA. on icy roads. Very good product and service.
Received order. extremely fast shipping. Havnt used yet but appears to be well made.

worked great. super easy install. used on pick up to pull fifth wheel up dirt road covered in snow. had noises at all great traction and steering.
Appears to be as described, however, I have not used or tried them on my truck yet.
I purchased them to keep on my truck. I'm starting a business with an RV transport company in Indiana just in case they have a load for me in snow weather conditions.
Great product so far.
I'm waiting for your Demco Auto slide fifth wheel hitch 21k to go back on sale.
I purchased these for my husband and will have to do my review in 2 parts. My husband has not had time to open the box the chains arrived in. I will address the service provided by etrailer.com today. I ordered the chains rather late in the evening and to my delight, I received notification that they had shipped my order that night. Inadvertently my unit number was left off of the order (my error) and again, late at night, I emailed etrailer and the next morning I awoke to a message that the problem was taken care of and I should get the order in a day or two. They were delivered that day. I ordered them 1/7/15 on 1/13/15 they were delivered. It took "longer" because of my error. I think I received superior customer service and still think that the time it took for the delivery (free) was excellent. Once my husband actually opens the box I will add to the review about the product. Customer service like this needs to be applauded immediately.
I bought a pair of these to carry in my truck after seeing another Chevy Silverado get badly stuck in snow in the Gravelly Mountains in Montana while elk hunting in 2019. Fast forward to the 2020 elk season, and I kept getting stuck and sliding sideways trying to get back through melting snow drift in the Castle Mountains. Once I put these chains on the front of my truck it crawled through the snow like I was driving on dry on pavement. They were fantastic. Unfortunately the back of the truck kept trying to slide downhill (I was on a sidehill) because I only had chains for the front tires, so I have now ordered a second set. I HATE putting on chains and have been able to avoid doing so for 35 years, but when you really need them they are life savers.
In terms of installation, these were very easy to put on, in spite of being stuck in snow and mud. The cam tensioners work great for taking up slack on the chains, but adding the Multi-Arm rubber adjusters really makes the chains fit tightly.
These are great chains and easy to install. I haven't had to use them much. The Cam Tighteners are an essential feature. You put the chains on loosely, then use the cam tighteners to cinch them down. You should also buy some form of rubber chain tightener to pull then outer ring together as you drive. I used the star type. You don't want the chain to be loose and whack your wheel well. I have a Tahoe with AT tires and the spacing inside the wheel well is small. These chains worked well.
The chains look good, I will have opportunity to use them in about 5 weeks.
Wish mounting instructions were available from the manufacturer.

Chains arrived fast, great service as usual. Item looks good, but havent had the opportunity to use them yet.
Bought the Glacier v-bar chains for the rear tires in extreme conditions and the Titan cable chains for lighter duty, also to be installed on the rear tires. Videos show that the cable-chains can be installed on the front tires of a 2020 or greater Toyota Tacoma, though not recommended by the owner’s manual. These cables are S-class compatible so they should work on the front tires, however caution should be taken as appropriate. I would recommend only installing on the front tires after the v-bar chains have been installed on the rear tires and extra traction is deemed worthy.
Both the Glacier and Titan multi-arm adjusters were ordered in support of the chains.
Parts arrived as ordered in a timely fashion.
Have not installed or used these products at the time of review.
I haven't used the products but they look like what was advertised and the company, Etrailer.com was just great to get the snow chains to me in time for my trip to Mammoth Lakes. Luckily I didn't need to use the chains since I had some great tires but they looked very well built and at a very good price. The bags I plan to use on my inflatable 13" boat and they are well made and it seals with folds and velcro. Looks water tight. If you leave air in the bag, it will float and you won't deep six the items. The other items look sturdy and capable of doing the job as intended. I was happy with the concern exhibited by the etrailer.com staff. I would buy from them again.
These are really nice chains. I can usually get them all on with tensioners in about 10 minutes. Very simple to hook up. Another set of chains I have had used the so called "quick connect" with a huge piece that sticks out and causes concern for rubbing against brake lines and these do not have that and are way quicker to put on. I would definitely buy these chains again.
This product was amazing it worked very well .
They are easy to install and they are easy to remove. they make plowing my driveway so much easier because I have a couple of low spots that fill with water and turn to ice and with these chains I have not gotten stuck would highly recommend them to anybody they also work well going down tote roads when I'm ice fishing. 5 Stars
The only reason this is not a five star rating is because I haven’t gotten to try the chains in the snow. Delivery and products received were as promised and appear to be good quality.
these are nice heavy chains. however, i felt the workmanship was a bit under-par. the welds, especially on the twist links which form the cross-members were rough and when you add the galvinizing to that, they are difficult to lay out flat prior to installation. the rough welds hang-up and you have have to do some "creative twisting" to get all the links into proper position. this problem was only in a few places. but, i can foresee some frustration if i have to find those kinks in the snow and with numb fingers. i discovered the problem when i laid the chains out on my garage floor as i was inspecting the chains the day i received them. this is May and so i can't say how they will perform this coming winter. i expect they will do well, but chains, by nature, are a tangled mess when you first pull them out. it should not have to be an extra struggle do to rough surfaces.

Hi Patrick-The chains were a gift for my son who hunts near the Canadian border. He was unable to make the trip last season so i have no feedback.im am writing to say, thumbs-up to etrailer for providing follow-up reviews. So many times when reading reviews i wonder, did the product stand the test of time? Many thanks to you and the folks who take the time to write their updates!I wi sh ever y site would follow your example.
Had trouble getting out to get wood, a good amount of snow and ice underneath. Put on the chains and the old truck walked right through. We'll see how they hold up but I am very satisfied.
These are a complete waste of money. Bought them last year and only used them once, they seemed to work fine. I didn’t need them for the rest of the winter. This year, on their 3rd use the cam tightener tool broke, really cheap metal. On their 4th use (needing a screwdriver and wrench to tighten the cams) they completely fell apart. 3 cross links broke on one chain, plus the outside latch fell off. Other chain seems fine which I don’t understand. Bottom line is after 4 uses totaling less than 30 miles, these chains are toast and I feel like an idiot for having purchased them...
These tire chains for my 2017 GMC 2500 (20” wheels) perfectly. They did great in the snow and allowed me to pull an enclosed trailer to my cabin, which I couldn’t have done without these chains on my truck. Thanks etrailer for the fitment video specific to my truck! Very helpful
Perfect fit and William S. has been a great help.
I have made multiple purchases from eTrailer and have always been pleased. I trust them!
I ordered 2 sets (4 chains total) of these tire chains for my V10 F250, which I use to plow a private dirt driveway on the north side of a mountain in rural Pennsylvania. It's two miles (actual odometer reading) uphill to the paved road from my house. Most years, along about February, the road ices up (because no sun and midatlantic sleet issues) and plowing becomes quite challenging. I figured getting tire chains might help the traction-on-ice problem. I plow the road between 10 and 15 mph, with the truck in 4wd. Since buying the chains I have run the truck up and back the road approximately twenty times with the chains on, plowing from 4 to 8 inches of snow, conducting rollbacks of shoulder, chopping up slush, etc. I have also used the truck (with chains) to pull out two other stuck vehicles that had run into ditches. At this point I feel like I can review the product because I've used 'em enough to have an opinion. 1. These tire chains add a lot of traction on ice. A lot. Enough to plow with and enough to pull out stuck vehicles while the "tow" vehicle is sitting on ice. 2. The chains look fine and are undamaged at this juncture. Since I've used them consistently with how I expect them to be used and they are fine, I'm happy with quality at this point. 3. Maybe I will improve with practice, but it's about thirty minutes of twinking around to get these straightened out, on the truck, tightened up, bungee'd, etc. in a way that I feel OK about driving with them. (That's why 4 stars instead of 5.) Once they're on, they seem to stay put fairly effectively. I do not drive on paved roads with these chains nor do I drive faster than (max) 20 mph so I can't speak to how they might do under those circumstances. I use them for additional traction for my plow truck while plowing my iced-up dirt road... and for that, they work as advertised.
